Hay River biathlete and cross country skier Joseph Lirette was fotunate enough to have been selected to be part of the Olympic Torch Relay as it travelled through Canada's north on November 4th and 5th.

 Joseph travelled to Inuvik, NWT where he carried the olympic torch as it made its way around the community before a cauldron was lit in Chief Jimmy Koe Park as part of a community celebration. Making this event even more special is that Joseph returned to the community of Inuvik where he was born and raised prior to moving to Hay River at a young age.
